Benefits of Rose Hip

Protect Against Cancer and Reduce Inflammation

According two studies, one American and one Serbian: Concentrated Rosehip extract works to reduce not only the migration but also the proliferation of cancer cells by as much as 45% in breast cancer cells. [1][2]

Inflammation is linked to many chronic illnesses and the development of cancer, Spanish and Japanese studies have demonstrated Rosehips anti-inflammatory properties that both studies linked to cancer prevention [3][4]. This is due to active compounds that reduce inflammation and prevent oxidative damage, namely carotenoids, tiliroside, phenols, ascorbic acid, beta-carotene, tannins and pectins. [5]

Healthy Heart

Rosehips can support healthy heart health in two key ways, by lowering cholesterol and regulating blood pressure:

Lower Cholesterol

Studies have shown that if taken regularly Rosehip extract can lower cholesterol levels, particularly effective in obese patients [6]. In this study patients who consumed Rosehip extract daily for 6 weeks saw a significant drop in their total blood cholesterol levels. The drop experienced would reduce risk of heart attack by 17%.

Regulate Blood Pressure

A study by the United States Department of Agriculture indicated that with regular use Rosehip intake resulted in a significant drop in blood pressure levels of those trialled [7]

Youthful, Vibrant Skin

Collagen is a protein that supports healthy, youthful and elastic skin. Vitamin C boosts collagen production and Rosehip extract has 60 times the Vitamin C found in oranges. By supplementing Rosehip extract you promote healthy skin from boosting collagen production.

Prevent and Relieve Rheumatoid Arthritis Pain

Rosehips contain the fatty acid GOPO which has been described as the plant version of fish oil. This anti inflammatory oil is believed to be behind the success thousands of patients have experienced when taking Rosehips for their Rheumatoid Arthritis. One study had Rose Hip extract pills administered saw a reduction in pain by up to 90% [9]. Another study from 2008 was conducted on 300 osteoarthritis patients saw reduced pain in their hips, joints and knees by an average of one third [10].

Rosehips also reduce inflammation by reducing levels of C-reactive protein which is a substance produced in the liver [11]. Increased inflammation causes an increase in C-reactive protein. These anti-inflammatory properties also reduce muscle wastage many arthritis sufferers experience due to the decreased use of their limbs from the pain [12]
